I went down to Friendship last Monday, and among other things I bought a box of a hundred .490 balls in what looks like a unopened box. When I opened it up the balls had a "frost" on them, rather than shiney. It was pretty humid down there and I suppose they got that way because of how they were stored.
The question is,besides the looks,(I don't like anything that looks better than me anyway),is there any problem when you use frosted balls?I know where this question can lead to,but please try to pick your minds up a little bit so we can get some serious answers.

No, I'm not going to take the bait. I am sorely tempted but...

The "frosting" is lead oxide. The only problem I can think of when dealing with is is it does wipe off easily and can become airborn.
If your "into" the lead paint scare, then you will be horrified at the thought of this stuff right there where you can see it.

If you are more rational, just remember, it does wipe off on your fingers easily so after handleing the coated balls, don't go smoking, eating or sucking your fingers until you have washed your hands. Don't let your kids or dogs eat or lick it either.

I personally recognize lead poisoning as what it is but I don't get overly paranoid about it.
If the oxide bothers you, it will wipe off with a rag, or better yet you can soak your balls in a tub of hot soapy water and then rub them vigorously. It is best not to be watching some cable TV shows while your doing this or you may become distracted. Then gently dry them and they will be as good as new. :: ::

Just pour them out onto an old towel, spray wet them down with WD40, then roll them around on the towel for a few seconds and they'll be dry, the oxidation will be gone, and they'll look like new again...

Good Grief, I had so many come backs to that I got a head ache trying to figure which one to let out first.

Bawwwwwwwwwww, Hawwwwwwwwwwwww, still laughing, can't help it :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Thanks for the help Zonie.I just knew the temptation would be too much for some people.I got the tub of soapy water and towel all ready, but I can't find the tv listing.

Oh for God's sake don't touch anything electrical after you've placed your balls in the tub!!!

Also it is advised that you try not to let them hit the side of the tub as that may create undersirable dents and contusions.
Some feel even a small dent can adversly effect your ability to successfully get your next load off with precision.

Assuming we are still talking about cleaning lead round balls in the bath tub, you might want to clean the tub out when you're done to prevent the kids from getting lead poisoning...

And they thought lead base paint was a problem...

Take em out and shoot em........that amount would last me about 3days of range time.......I've got frost ball in a lot of various diameters......I believe Hornandy's come that way.......spray em with WD40....

If you need to use a bath tub to clean your balls, you've certainly got more balls than I have.

Sorry guys, I just couldn't help myself.
I only use an old rag for cleaning my balls. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
