Hey! Recently did a post but thought i would get to introducing myself.

I'm a 25 yo guy from sweden. Since we got very crazy gun laws the only guns i can buy are black powder guns over here produced before 1890 since they are more really classed as antiques then weapon.
I got a Starr Army DA cal 44 1856
And Remington cal 44 1858
i love black powder guns more and more, yet i don't know much and got no expirience with black powder guns except shooting the starr a couple times. And might probably do many posts over here since i'm learning and got questions sometimes.

So i'm here to learn and get some help 🙂

Well I think you have some to the right place! Lots of very knowledgeable people on this forum. Can you own reproductions of "antique" muzzleloaders or so they have to be original?

Here are the guns i got. But the starr got some problem since it jams and the cylinder stops rotating between every bullet. And the problem with the remmington for now is in another post i made...i will get out and try it soon.

Yeah man! Not all of them but some parts have to be original for example i think the cylinder and barrel and i'm not sure what more parts actually since i'm new to it.

Welcome to the forum from Meridian, Idaho. I wish I could help but my black powder experience is fairly limited and just to rifles. Someone should be able to help you. That Remington looks pretty good, the Starr looks....original.

Oops....I didn't realize the first post had worked...

Welcome from Missouri!
My 1851 would jam up when I'd try to thumb back the hammer.... I would have to let the hammer back down and thumb it back a second time almost every time. All I had to do was adjust the hammer spring under the grip a little bit. Now it works as it should.

Good luck, shoot straight and God bless,
Rodd

Thanks man! Well i tried to change hammer spring in my starr 1856 but that won't help. It still jams between each bullet and i get to help to rotate the cylinder with my second hand...i think the cylinder gets into some weird position that makes it jam after the first shot. That's weird. I can make clips of it when i get out shooting one day.

Oof, I said hammer spring. I meant main spring! My apologies!

I need to say same haha i'm from sweden i don't know all the names of parts in english barely in swedish since i didn't have my revolvers for so long time. Always wanted to get but you know our crazy laws...since they have to be produced before 1890 in order to be legal they are expensive as hell...so couldn't get them before. I payed around 2400$ for the remington and about 1900$ for the starr when i got the chance to buy them...i couldn't before. So i haven't had them for so long. Wish our crazy gun laws were like in USA i can't get guns here so decided to go for black powder guns instead haha but i love them tho.

Anyways i checked up the parta of a revolver by names here and i did the same mistake as you.

I mean i changed the mainspring in my starr but it still didn't help. When i got it the mainspring wasn't even powerful enough to explode the percussion cap. Now it shoots at least but jams probably because of the sizes of the cylinder probably not pressed back enough....not sure.
Our laws are crazy haha
