Tha mind are a strange thin, an ever time somthin like this has come up fer ole Zonie his head starts a thinnen bout bad moons risen but after em docks get don a pokin an a peepin they say it arn't nothin ta worry 'bout. Jus take som o this fer a while an ye ul be fixed.

No sh$t!! That sucks. I'm getting little red mole like things now as well as that thingy in the liver. We were evacuating poeple (over 6 thousand) from the north end of town after lightning hit a "farm chemical" plant.
Like I said it was 2 years before we were told the "farm chemical" was in fact agent orange.
I well remember that night, the smoke was so thick you couldn't see and the acid in the air etched the brass fire hose nozzles WHITE! Many of the firemen died from lung disorders from breathing acid fumes, many of us developed cancers of everything. Would you believe cancer of the leg?
Re: Gulf War syndrome. It may very well be from hydrocarbons from the oil well fires.
But what the hell.....I refuse to get goofy over anything. I got some nice muzzle loaders, a good supply of black powder, flints, caps, balls, bullets and you guys as friends. It don't get no better'n this! ::

Maxi... I don't usually get involved in personal situations, but felt this one is necessary. I, like you, gave a lot of years to this country. I spent 15 years of my military career overseas. 4 years in combat zones. Got the manure kicked out of me in Nam, twice. Been in some hard spots and came thru most of them pretty well. Agent Orange caught up with me a number of years ago. Skin cancers and the whole works. Lost my kidneys a few years ago and was on dialysis for quite awhile. Lucked out three years ago and got a kidney transplant.
You and I are quite abit alike. We've both been thru times that were a whole lot tougher than what we're facing now. We made it thru then, and we'll make it thru now.
When the time comes, I'd be proud to join ole Musketman to do your wishes. It would be an honor. But for the time bein', let's just say our prayers and tighten up the belts.

Maxi,just to let you know,we're concerned and will keep you in our thoughts and prayers.I agree with Zonie though that you have to keep up a positive attitude and you can beat this thing.Just remember we're pullin' for you down here,best wishes.Wayne.
Maxi-ball my comments were not intended to down play your situation......that's not my style......I just wanted to share with you and let you know that some of us know how you might feel........If you are serious about your remains.......we have an reenactor event here twice a year in which we shoot regulation CW cannons (6)......If you don't mind being used in a CW reenactment on the Confederate side, Texas isn't such a bad place to be......john......

I remain VERY positive and though I'm not a religious person I am very spiritual and have my own belief system.
My girlfriend is in the mental health field and very well understands the power of a positive attitude.
I fully intend to be around a looooooooooong time and like many of you I've been though worse, much , much worse and always came out well enough.
You are all very fine people and I'm proud to know you.

Thanks for the medical info, but it's nothing I haven't heard already from a dozen different doctors or read in countless VA pamphlets. I have other suspicions besides the oil fires, but no way to prove it. There's no known cause (at least, none that they'll admit to), so there's no known cure.
Maxiball, my approach is simple. The time you have is valuable. Deal with the problem as necessary, but otherwise concentrate on the fun stuff. Like shootin'! Nothing's more fun than puttin' a few chunks of lead downrange. And I'm looking forward to teaching my boys how to shoot. They're almost old enough for their first BB gun. I expect they'll make fine squirrel hunters.
And when I'm not shootin' and the kids are asleep, I can always come here and knock around with you guys! ::

Two years ago my wife was diagnosed with a very rare cancer.
It was called LeioMyoSarcoma. Her Dr at MD Anderson said her prognosis was," an 80% chance the cancer would return in two years. If the cancer came back in that time period,
she had a 0% chance of living five years. She could not be treated by any means other that more surgery. She had a pre-existing condition called Chrohns and Colitis with IBS. That meant she couldn't be treated with radiation and there was no chemo available because it was so rare that no chemo had been developed for it". This Monday was the final info
from her tests showing that the cancer had not returned in the 2 years so she now could have a normal life expectancy.
When we got the prognosis in Houston, our world was shattered. Now, with the latest news, and all the time in between, every minute was cherished. So, even a confirmed diagnosis of cancer can be a good thing. It just depends on how the individual reacts to the news.

Just wanted to say THANK YOU for your prayers and support.
I had my C.A.T. scan last tues. and somehow (?) that mass shrank back to what it had been for the past ten years. Conclusions? Benign cyst just hanging around minding it's own business not bothering a thing! ::
While they were at it they took pics of all the other organs, guts and such and everything else was normal also.
Good thing they didn't do a brain scan huh? :haha:
The doctors tell me you'll have to wait at least another 40 years before you get to shoot me out of a cannon or something.
(Now I realize some of you would like to do it now just to see how far I'd fly, but I'll pass for now. :blah

Actually I've been doing a LOT of talking to "da MAN" lately. Nothing wrong with that. It's a good habit, but then I'm old school and believe in values, work ethic, and such fast disappearing things.
Maybe that's why guys like us shoot muzzle loaders. We VALUE our heritage. I haven't met a jerk here yet!
I bet most nearly everyone here would help a memeber in a heartbeat if it were possible. :applause:

I've been going through a long recovery from a heart attack and have come to depend on this electronic gizmo for a lot of my contact with like thinking humans. I know other people, but they have things to do and I can't hang out and talk BP with them non stop.
You've got more friends than you probably thought Maxie, and they come from all over the country.
We ought to plan a get together of the Ohio, PA, KY, IN posters and do some shooting. N KY to NE OH is no big thing. I drive farther than that to reenactments all the time! I'd sure rather drive that far to see a live friend than for the other option you were offering.
Now, should the need ever arise again, I do know a guy that has a Cohern morter....
