Yea NO DOUBT It would be different if i had asked for Mike’s advice, But i did NOT, and i’ve said so throughout my Thread here. I don’t need, or want his 3rd party Long Range Shooting advice that he gets from the Shiloh Forum. Mike De Land is a PERFECT Example of why these Forums are a JOKE to MANY very knowledgeable, and accomplished Shooters. I can name 2 World Champions that feel that way, They avoid these places like the Plague

Oh, I suspect you will employ some of what you have heard here even though you didn't ask for it. It will help you to be a better shot at distance.

One reason that I, on a regular basis, consider not visiting forums, regardless of how much I love the information that is available; is the nasty back-and-forth discussions that regularly seem to erupt out of nowhere, when certain posters JUST HAVE TO JUMP ON THEIR HOBBY HORSE, and start imparting information/criticizing another forum member for NOT KNOWING WHAT THEY DO.

Not everyone wants to be as informed as we might think that they would. I often have to stop myself from starting to respond to a post, because as I was told long ago...

"Just because someone says something to you, doesn't mean you have to open your mouth and respond to what was said!"

The same thing is even more true of the internet. "Just because I see something on the screen of my phone/computer, doesn't mean that I have to immediately start typing out a response to it!"

Fact is, I did NOT ask for ANY advice, Mike comes along and tries to Discredit my 1,200 Yard Hit on Steel, saying it was a Lucky Hit, That was his very 1st post in MY thread here, Then he starts trying to tell me how to Shoot Long Range Was my Hit on Steel not good enough? LOL! Holy Numb Nuts Batman

I am just about to accomplish this 1,200 Yard Shoot with my .50 Cal Muzzleloader and 610 Grain Custom GG Bullets from a Mold i had Made, Just waiting for a chance to get back out

You are not a competitive shooter. You have stated this many times over the years that I have been reading your posts, and watching your videos.

You shoot long range because it challenges you, and makes you happy. At least, that's my take on what I have observed online of Idaholewis.

As smart as you have to be to have gotten to the place where you can consistently get on target at 1,202 yards in just 7 shots for the very first time at that range, with the rifle rig, wad, powder charge, and bullet that you were using that day........

I am POSITIVE that you are smart enough to seek out any, and all, information such as Mr. deLand was trying to shove down your throat.....

If that was what you desired to do.

I have spoken to a sniper who shot in Iraq. The elite snipers that can make the 3/4 mile to mile-plus shots, often take as many as 3-4 shots to "Find the Range" at those distances, even with all of the high tech gear that they use. To include rifles that shoot much flatter than Idaholewis'.

My whole point in this thread was to Show something Cool, something you just don’t see everyday, How many Old Sidelock Muzzleloaders have you seen Ringing Steel at 1,200 Yards? My intentions were NEVER To Bragg, I do this kind of Stuff on a Regular basis (Long Range) in short, I shoot a LOT!! I just about live in Buffalo Arms Co for Supplies, BACO is in my Backyard

As @R.J.Bruce stated above, I have stated MANY times that i am NOT a Competition shooter, nor have i EVER claimed to be, Nor do i have any interest in EVER Being. In short, I have ZERO Use for Competitive Shooting. For me personally, It takes the fun out of Shooting, Which is my reason for Shooting in the 1st place. I do this stuff for Fun, Love of Muzzleloaders, and Muzzleloading.

Ever wonder why there are ALWAYS more Guests on a Forum than Members? Who in their right mind would want to Join a Forum like this and be “Heckled”

There are 899 people Total on this forum as i type this, Only 186 of them are members, The other 713 are JUST Guests, Can you blame them? Again, Who wants to join a Forum and be “Heckled”?

Lets see, I think I used the word "spectacular shot" twice ! You apparently feel the truth about the shot being chance and not consitently repeatable without reading and dealing with conditions is discrediting but actually knowing the facts are the only way to correct an error to get better. How is informing you how to make more hits discrediting? If you listen. investigate and apply what you can learn, you can progress to the point of making hits more often than not. You can't progress if you believe that all that is needed is to get "a" elevation setting and seemingly have no knowledge that it will not remain constant as conditions change. Temperature and baremetric pressure alone can change the elevation setting and that is not even factoring in windage and mirage.
