Were you able to put it back in where it goes?
Not yet lol working on refinishing the barrel right now just glad to know what it is lol
That part is to assist in holding the ramrod in place. Many guns don't even have them. If your gun holds the ramrod in place without it, I wouldn't even bother putting it back.

I don't think any of my guns have this. I do have one that could use it.... usually just steam bend the rod a bit for that one when I have needed a new rod. I wonder if something like that could be added to mine instead...ummmmmmm????

If you decide to re-install it you should look up a schematic and pay attention to how it goes in; if you put it in upside down it can declare a tug-of-war for your ram rod.

I leave them out of my CVA guns and rely on the slightly bent ramrod method.
