Went to town today to look for a box of modern for a friend. Went to five (5) places and the shelves were barren (read non-existent) of stuff.

If this is any indication of what is coming for caps I would be getting a supply PDQ it may be a very long time before you are able to get any, even with ordering them over the internet.

FDF, I agree. A few weeks before the election I decided to stock up on unmentionable ammo. Even the dealers that knew me by name only had reloads of the most popular calibers or were only selling ammo with a firearms purchase. I did stock up on muzzleloading supplies. I think now that Joe is in, I’m going to be getting all I can afford.

Yep, Bit the bullet so to say and ordered 1k RWS 1075's few months back...paid dearly however, should hold me until I find more locally. Now since Tip Curtis Shop (RIP ol'friend) is closed I need to score 10lb of powder.

Not too sure Joe...is going to be declared, only the media has mentioned that.

I know what we cannot talk about, but what I found today was very scary and what I see coming for caps is even worse.

With the sale of Remington ammo recently, I seriously doubt the new buyers are going to put forth much effort into making caps for a minority market.

That only leaves CCI to make caps, and considering their other market demands, caps are not going to be an important part of their business.

I don't know if any of the European caps are coming into the country with the virus. I would doubt it, if the Italians are not shipping guns to the U.S.

Ammo has been on very short supply/unobtainable since spring around here. Centerfire primers are selling on auction sites upwards of 30 cents APIECE! This was long before the election.

Im certain the internet has led to hoarding and "prepping ".
I call it insanity.

I found #10, 11 caps on discount last year and ordered 3000. I think im good.

I am long on caps, but it seems most are not. Seems folks are always asking where can I get them.

The local Academy store and Walmart have plentiful supplies of CCI #11 caps. So does the Bass Pro shop in OK City.

Nothing like election and covid panic buying! Handgun ammo is unobtainable here, so cap and ball revolvers are hot right now.

Cabela's has Remington #10 and #11s, as well as CCI #11 Magnums, on their website for shipping to the local store. I was able just tonight to buy 10 packs of them to pick up in store.

That will be for someone else to answer because I'm a rookie with all this. I just know I run Remington #10s on my cap and ball revolvers with the Slixsprings nipples, so that's what I buy.

As I gaze into my crystal ball I don't see a shortage of percussion caps due to a run on the stores. Most preppers don't plan on holding back the hordes with a Plains rifle or cap and ball revolver. Only if resources are diverted to cartridge ammo manufacturing will muzzleloader supplies be affected. Free advice worth what you paid for it.

"Would be awesome if someone made nipples that took modern primers instead of caps!"

It seems that I saw them recently, but cannot remember where.

Is there a difference between hoarding and just stocking up?
My definition is if you go to a store and buy part of what is available, you are stocking up. If on the other hand you buy All of a given product without leaving some for the next guy, you are hoarding.
