Round top lids are neat. :)
I've been told that they were originally invented to be used on full size trunks. The kind people used to ship their clothing and other valuables in, on wagons, ships and trains. Because of their round tops, it was difficult for the loaders to stack other heavy trunks on top of them so it prevented the damage that doing that could cause to the trunk and the stuff inside it.

"Show me your range box?" Sounds like a question that might get you slapped if you ask the wrong person that doesn't know what you are talking about. I didn't realize that what they were called, but I have a nice one that I just went through last weekend. It's amazing as to what you'll find doing so. I found duplicates of stuff I re-bought sometimes two or three times. I'll post some pictures later.
