Jag and Rod stuck in barrel

Look up how to tie a Prussic knot, it grips whatever it is tied on

It’s remarkable how just a little too much matters. I used old pillow cases cut into little squares. They slide down the barrel easily ...a little too easily I thought. So I used two patches, remember old pillow case material is pretty thin, and sure enough it locked up solid half way down the .451 bore. She held the rifle and I pulled the rod, HARD. I don’t double up now.

If you have enough rod put it in a vice and pull,this is the method i use never fails me.good lucl

Getting your rod out is the easy part. You need to determine why it stuck. Fouling is one thing but that far up the barrel is really unusual unless you shot a short started ball. You don't want a ball stuck there trying to load.

Is it possible you have a .69 caliber?

shoot a lot of oil/ liquid lube, down the bore and a slow strong pull on it and it is a principle called hydraulics. it will have to come or blead! no jerking on the rod. slow and steady.

Did you ever actually measure your bore, or are you ASSUMING it is .750 dia.? Did you ACTUALLY measure your cleaning jag? The jag should be around .735 dia. If you got it stuck with no patch, you have metal to metal contact between the jag and bore!

His idea is a good one. But since the rod is metal using force to pull it out is the best way to go. I hope that barrel was dirty. If the rod got stuck half way down in a clean barrel you would have other pretty serious problems.

If that’s the jag I sent you it miked at .72 so your bore is smaller than that. At least at the point it got stuck at. Strange it stuck halfway down. If it runs down the first 6 inches it should go all the way down.

Yeah I have no idea why it stuck. Especially in a clean barrel. The jag is smaller than the supposed calibre

Like Bob said, the jag is .72. I haven't personally measured the bore, but the manufacturer told me it was .76 cal. So obviously there is something going on. looking down the bore though I see no obstructions, just smooth surface, and I can load a .715 round ball easy. Totally baffled as to what is going on.

Yeah it has to be. Really is strange, the bore must be smaller than stated. Weird cause it looks perfectly fine when I shine a light down there

Maybe? It looks fine to me though and it's brand new.

either there is a reduction in diameter or that part of the barrel isn't round

are there any marks on the jag? such as shiny rub marks on either side?

I'm thinking tapered bore. Is there allot of free space at the muzzle when you insert the jag?
