Enclosed are images of which I believe to be a fowling gun which may have been sold by a ironmonger which was common in that period It is Birmingham made and proofed with a 33inch Damascus twist barrel which would have been 40 inch's or more and in good condition with no bore pitting .Although muzzle loading shotguns were made in all bore sizes with this one it is a 7 bore and not a common size the lock is back action which would put the gun in the late percussion era and a pistol grip style of a trigger guard You will find that there were a lot of these big bore guns which had the barrel reduced to 30 -32 inches for the sport of live pigeon shooting from traps

It was common practice from the percussion period and also the early breech loaders for company's such has iron mongers , {Hardware} and also agricultural machinery merchants to retail weapons bought in from the Birmingham Gun Trade. Some did enter their name on the locks and barrels which did create confusion when research the genuine gun makers but most did not, I have come across a great number of these guns mostly shotguns

Pretty fine Felt. Curious, any of those on your certificate? That 7 bore looks like it would be good waterfowler.
No they are added to my fowling guns collection ,has you say yes they would shoot but now at my age the mind says yes but the body says no, but that is now life
