I have a Dikar 45 caliber caplock made in spain that was given to me. Looking for advice on how to lighten the trigger pull. Very hard to pull. Shooting 440 round ball with 20-25 3F Black powder. I have no idea what year this is. Also looks like a kit to me. Thanks on any help.

If you have not yet taken it apart, do so. Inspect everything for cleanliness, oil and possible rubbing on any wood. Not sure if the old Dikar locks had the adjusting screw on the tumpler like later models sold by CVA had. If so, adjust that screw so that the trigger sear is closer to the end of the full cock notch in the tumbler.

If that has a brass trigger, it looks like it does... probably from the mid to late 1970’s. The ones I have, have the steel triggers. They are from the late 1960’s to early to mid 1970’s.

Most Dikar percussion guns had a bolster breech instead of a drum and nipple. It looks like the Traditions Colonial Pistols made by Ardesa. Are you sure it is a Dikar or did some body tell you that? CVA imported that model as well, the early ones made by Jukar had a bolster breech. The CVA model made after about 1978 has a Maislan style lock plate that went back to a point, with production switched to Ardesa. Later in the CVA line and Traditions the colonial pistols were made by Ardesa with that shape lock with the rounded back and drum and nipple breech..

Hey thanks for the replys. Your right. There is a adjusting screw on the tumbler. Also barrel says Dikar made in spain. Disassembled, cleaned, Browned the barrel, restain and finished the stock and adjusted that screw. Now it will work fine. Thank You.. be safe, stay healthy.

Dikar made some guns that were basically identical to CVA. Though I think they had better barrels than Ardessa.

Built this Colonial for my wife. It is actually a really good shooting pistol for only a 6"barrel. Just wish CVA would have used better wood. Starting another 6" using a Dukar barrel but my own maple.

CVA didn't make the kits, just marketed under their name. Traditions had the same in fact parts were interchangeable. It's my understanding that the wood they use (Beech) while not the best looking, works well and is inexpensive being common in Europe.
