I ended up with two of them, bought one thinking it was a regular flask over a year ago and just bought this second one off GunBroker because it came with a Pickett bullet mold.

I was going to try to shoot my new Dragoon this week and I wanted to try the flask set at 30gr with some of the Johnston and Dow bullets I got from Paper Cartridges. Com

From what I read I should bring a standard flask as a backup because people feel these are junk. I guess the original users didn't like them either.

I'm trying to develop loads before I make paper cartridges for it.

Has anyone made these work or are they more just stuff for the cases sets that no one uses?

Stan, you are trying to develop loads. As I recall, these flasks have a push to fill and dispense. I recommend that you dispense and weigh the 30 grain setting and see how consistent the released weights are.

For an afternoon of casual, making smoke, kind of shooting, those flasks are fine. For load development, you want to pour the powder into a good volumetric measure.

I'll just bring everything, I basically just want to see if those flasks actually work .

The advantage of pistols/revolvers is that it's way easier to bring a bunch of stuff with you in a couple bags .

It just occurred to me that I still own one. I don't know where it is and haven't seen it in 30 years. Which should tell you how highly I think of them.

It's more of a gimmick I guess, I put a 30 gr spout on a little CVA "day flask" and it handles nice.

I basically bought a mold and a Walker wrench and the deal included the Flask. If nothing else it's something to play around with and maybe bury in my pile of unused shooting gear like everyone else seems to do with them.
