I bought mine just before Cabelas stopped selling them. It sat in my safe and I just started shooting it a couple of years ago. It is a great shooter. Mine is a 50 Cal and shoots both patched round balls and conicals good. The only thing I did was change the sights to Williams firesights. They make them specifically for the Cabelas hawkens. The middle pice is with 90grs FFG and a Hornady Great Plains Conical and pic on the right is with a Hornady .490 PRB .020 Ok-yoke Lubed patch and 70Grs of FFG. I love this gun.

Sometime about 15-20 years ago cabelas sold a higher quality replica hawken that looked a lot like the real thing. (to a civilians eye).

They were spendy too, I think they were $1300.

Does anyone remember that rifle? Do you know what brand, etc?

Pedersoli?
