Gun show find

Dunno, son is normal and so are both parents.

My Pop was safety officer for the police shooting team and he tried to teach me gave up and stated I would never shoot. He refused to allow me to shoot left handed. Snuck off n bought a BB gun (was not allowed a BB gun per my mischievous disposition), next time out whipped him and all my uncles n cousins as I just shot left handed before he could "correct" me!! LOL he had never heard of this.

I'm lefthanded and right eye dominant, but shoot lefty because I didn't know it until I asked an eye doctor about 15-20 years ago. I still haven't tried shooting righty but might. I do some things ambidextrious but am better lefty.

I have the same problem. I have shot rifles right handed all my life. Fired EXPERT in the Marines using the M14. Was not until i started shooting handguns that i noticed that i was left eye dominant. I can pull up in a slow fire sinerio and go to my right eye no problem ever time. Pull up in a combat shooting rapid fire sinerio and the pistol always comes up left eye right hand. I learned to cope with it. Still rifles are right hand right eye, at least until this eye gets where i can no longer use it. My semi auto unmentionables handguns all sport red dots so it is both eyes open all the time now.

I bought a T/C fire hawk at a gun show last weekend in 50 cal. It was percussion and looked like new with beautiful wood on it. The wood sold me on this rifle as I like good figured walnut. The inside of the barrel was new looking also. It had real shallow groves and I guess its a 1/48 twist. I will get out when a good day comes around and shoot it some. I am a round ball shooter so I hope it shoots well. I will post results when I do.

Great find! I don’t get lucky usually on things like that. My wife did buy a picture at a yard sale for the frame and found the print was a numbered one by a fairly famous artist worth several hundred.
My biggest fear is when I die she’ll sell my guns and fishing tackle for what I told her I paid for it!

I am left handed and shoot a bow and gun left handed. BUT write right handed! Go figure! I am better then average shooting and my handwriting is bad beyond belief!
I bought a left hand Benelli M1 turkey in the 90s, it amazed me how much more sight picture I had after the shot without the gas’s and shell ejecting in front of me!

Since nobody has bothered to check on the SN 1 Colt story I passed on, I guess nobody cares. Good deals do happen from time to time though. I personally have stumbled across a couple, including an original percussion Sharps I bought for less than $150 and an original J&S Hawken that changed hands in Houston for a very reasonable price. I
once bought a small brass-framed lever action carbine because I thought I was getting an original Henry real cheap. Turned out I was wrong. Instead of a Henry it was a Volcanic, in working condition. And, I know of one instance where two 1800's suppository revolvers, one Colt and one S&W, both nickel plated and engraved, both with factory ivory grips, were sold for pocket money to an insurance agent by the widow of the recently-deceased original owner. I saw and handled both of those myself
within hours of the sale. Sometimes it isn't what the piece is worth, but what it's worth to the seller (or the buyer, for that matter.) That said, I believe we've wandered off the muzzleloader subjects, y'all.

It is not unusual, at least around the Midwest. I pick about anything at auctions for 50 to 150 bucks. Zoli Zouave, 125. 50 caliber TC hawkin flinter 150. Just depends what part of the country they are in. Yes, they are at least shooters, pristine would be the 200 mark.
I am not saying anyone gets ripped off. It is whatever the buyer and seller agree to price. If both is relative happy, it is a good price.

At the little elementary school 'Pine Forest' north of Vidor ,Texas where I attended grade school, I saw and knew of kids beat half to death because they were left handed, and were forced to write right handed. I guess the idiots don't do that to children any more. I wouldn't want to be a target of Desperate Lee, regardless of which eye or shoulder he used.
