I just picked up some Hoppes BP cleaner and lube to try. What's the best way to use it as a patch lube? Slightly dampen the patch?

I place a drop on one side and just rub it in with my fingers. size of drop matters so play with it. NOT wet just damp works best for me. Yer gonna get black n stinky. Part of the game to me and I don't wear cloths I cant wipe my hands on LOL.

Might also wanna dry the Dutch system, he will save ya a lotta time in accurizing your rifle. Not near as messy. I use it more than Hoppes but when outta of patches lubed his way Hoppes is my next choice. Ya can shoot for weeks and never swab as the Hoppes swabs each shot pretty well. Dutchs way will shrink yer groups an inch or more for sure but plinking it dont matter so much, (to me).

I picked up a bottle of this about 4 years ago off a prize table. I don't like it as a cleaner but it does work nicely as a lube. I salvaged a small spray bottle from some bath product my Wife used. One spritz is just right on a patch. Probably have another year of shooting before it runs out.

I used to use it for range shooting...much prefer water and a drop of dish soap for cleaning...but have gone away from it. Mainly stick with hunting type lubes now, just my own preference. I did find Hoppes BP to work well for me.
When I did use it, I would put a stack of patches in a container a couple of days before shooting and add some Hoppes BP solvent to it. After a couple of hours I would check it, if the patches were too damp I'd add a few more patches, if not damp enough a little more Hoppes. It was easy to get them just barely damp this way, which like azmntman I found to work the best. Just barely damp yielded best accuracy, still kept the fouling soft, and didn't wring any out that could foul the powder charge or get into the flame channel.
It did result in black fingers/hands.

I've been using Hoppes BP Lube & cleaner for years. I get the patches wet but not drippy. My guns don't care for "damp", they like it wet.

Oh, that's just wrong. (but hilarious) I can't imagine what that cost.
Why waste good money on something you can make for pennies or free ?

Notice the warning label ?

I don't know what it would cost now, if I could find it. When I bought it some years ago the cost was rather modest. Since it's my favorite lube I felt like I was walking in tall cotton.
