Is this still available? Would the $800 include shipping?

3 Pedersoli offers a brass case for their sharps. But there are two different stock numbers. How do you determine which one to order ? (I realize you have to order their mold blocks to cast bullets that will work with these cases. But I want to try these brass cases out anyway).
The different size between those brass case comes from the different base and length of the bullets: the longer brass tubes for the "classic" Christmas Tree profile and the shorters for the "modern" profile...
I have twenty-six of them (13 longs and 13 shorts) but that is only for the days I'm out of flax cartridges or paper cartridges, which is very rare.
The tubes are not a good solution, they don't contains the good charge of powder and require a hook to pull them out after each shot...

To order brass tubes just ask for "modern profile" or "Classic" .
- For the "classics" the Pedersoli reference is: U 517 54 B.
- For "moderns" the reference is: U 517 54 A.

Zonie. Does the Dreyse & Chasspott fit the rule ? not external cappers but close. But there are a raft of capping BLs Monkey tails ,Mont Storms, Callisher & Terry ect. I am rather a purist ML er but have no sensible objection to external cappers at all, Its not too slippery a slope. No especial urgeing just curious.

Bonsoir Rudyard,

This is a good question and I'm also waiting Zonie's answer...

When talking about paper cartridges it is for ML and sometimes Sharps, but the Chassepot and the Dreyse can absolutely not be loaded by the muzzle by the principle how they are build: you can load them only by the breech, close the bolt like on a modern rifle and the needle pierce the paper cartridge to ignite the powder by the cap that is inside a bit like a percution pin...

The principle of them is between the Sharps 48/59/63 and the moderns weapons and more like moderns weapons int the functioning: those are looking like metallic cartridge percussion rifle...
The percussion by needle was another way of transition near the "modernity"...
The only thing common between the Dreyse, Chassepots ans Sharps was the paper cartridges

All can be discuss close by the chimney with a good brandy, but I see and I think this way... ;)

Bien amicalement.

Erwan.

No.

I must ask everyone, please keep all of your comments and questions directed to the gun that is being offered for sale.
This is a Classified Advertisement. It is not a place to talk about anything other than the item that is for sale.

I use Hahn tubes in my carbine but am just starting out (Flees mod on the breech). When you say 50 gr 1 1/2 "loose" in tube do you mean the breech or are you loading a bullet then a tube with the powder.
I cover one end of the tube with hair curler paper using glue, put in powder, then glue the same on the other end. I can carry a bunch of quick reloads this way and the cap will punch through the paper. I am sorry about the delay. Had a few medical problems.

Easy7 has said he tried to contact seller. I have sent a pm to say I would buy this rifle, if it is still for sale, with no response. It is still listed as for sale. ???

Yes it’s still available and depending on where you’re at it would include shipping
Ron. I noticed you were here yesterday and with the number of people who say they have sent you a PM (Conversation) it makes me wonder. Are you reading the private messages that have been sent to you?
If you see a number in the little envelope in the upper right hand area of the screen, that indicates you have some unread private messages.

At the rate this ad is going and with all of the non-advertisement comments and information, I'm thinking of closing this ad.
I'll leave it open for right now but no one should be surprised to see me close it.

Mr Zimmerman has it listed on another popular sales list. I contacted him through that 3 weeks ago. He did get in touch and said he would consider it sold and check shipping costs and let me know. 2 weeks went by with no more contact. I sent him a message then that I wasnt interested anymore. Last I had seen it appeared like he had made a deal to sell in the Idaho forum here on this website. I Hope that helps everyone understand whats going on.
One more thing, I pointed out to him that it was an 1863 not 1874 as he listed it. He replied that he did recall his dad telling him it was a 63. I found it strange he didnt ever bother to set the record straight on that.

IMHO, I move that we close this thread. It has deteriorated to the point that, I believe, many of us have lost faith in the integrity of the post.
