looking for contact info on Eddy May who used to sell round balls he was last listed in Chatsworth, Ga. dead end as has other info.

I called Eddie ~2- months ago at the info Claude posted and he got right back to me. At that time he was waiting on a huge pickup of lead from his supplier(s), so he limited to stock on hand.

I just talked to Eddie in June at the NMLRA Spring Shoot in Friendship. The business card he gave me at that time has the same information Claude posted. I was inquiring for a friend who buys his roundballs. Eddie didn't say anything about production issues at that time, just to have him call.

If someone confirms the phone number please make sure to post the results. The number given here is what I have in my database.

FYI - The contact information for Eddie May as listed above by Claude is accurate. I spoke with Eddie yesterday and he is still in business. His current pricing for 0.530 balls is $10/100 and for 0.570 balls is $11/100. He still uses the flat rate USPS shipping boxes which go for about $8. As per his past practice, you send him a check for the amount + shipping box and upon receipt, he will then send out your order. I have been pleased with his products. I hope this helps.

Hi everyone. I ordered and received 100 .662 and 100 .678 for $20 per 100. Great quality and service. Highly recommended

Did you weigh them for accurate grain weight? I am looking for a manufacturer I can trust and give me consistent .530 balls. I tried Rush Creek and they were off 4 grains for 50 balls. Does he hand cast or machine cast?

He hand casts. He provided the roundball for years to dixie. Call him....

Did you shoot them to see if that 4 grain difference showed up on the target? Sometimes things like that dont show up on paper. If it does just segregate the balls into +- 1 grain lots.

Thanks everyone for your replies! I will give him a call and order some. Just bought ebook from Dutch and he states about the difference in ball weights and not to use swaged balls. I'm just trying to order the most consistent balls I can.

He used to go through 5-600 pounds of lead a month. Tough to weigh that many but then he was pretty good at it as well. Never heard any issues with dixie's hand cast that he cast. He would get orders for 10-15,000 roundball sometimes with deadlines. Good luck, he is one of the good ones.

Thanks jdw276 for your reply! He sounds like the go to guy if I don't want to cast my own balls. How hard is it to cast and what melter and moulds would anyone recommend for me to use?

I use a Lee bottom pour electric pot and the Lee aluminum two ball mould for my .62 cal 20 ga smoothy. I use wheel weights and they balls seem satisfactory to me. I've casted a lot of bullets but am new to the round ball. I'm happy with what is happening.

Ditto for me on all counts except I ladle pour. Casting is easy, and made easier still casting round balls. Get the lead up to about 700 degrees or so, get the mould hot either by casting until the balls are filled out or by dipping the corner of the mould into the hot lead. Wait for the sprue to harden, I use a 4 or 5 count. Cut the spruce off and open the mould to drop the balls. If they hang up tap on the bolt holding the handles together until they release. Close the mould, swing the spruce plate back and repeat. It's that easy. Be sure to flux and skim the garbage off the lead before you start and you're good to go. I dont think I left anything out.

Just called Eddie May and ordered some round balls. Price is $12.00 a hundred (12 cents piece) for .530 balls plus $8.30 shipping. He might be able to fit 250 balls in this box for same shipping price. His address is as above from Claude.

Glad to know that Eddie May is still in business. I haven't seen him for many years. He used to come to SC as a vendor for state championships and he usually had whatever we needed. I have a couple of stainless range rods that I bought from him and wish I had bought a couple more. Eddie May is a straight shooter and an interesting fellow if you ever have a chance to visit with him. I spent a pleasant afternoon swapping stories with him last time he was here. Eddie's round balls were as good as any cast balls, probably better than most of us can shoot. I know that Rocky an his sons shot Eddie May .40 balls and always managed to shoot pretty good with them.

Just last month (hard to believe it is March already) I got an order of roundballs from Eddie for my new (to me) .40 & also got a order of .58 minies from Cast Bullets (recommended by Eddie who does not cast minnies). Both orders are fine shooters.

I’m resurrecting this thread letting everyone know I just talked to and ordered roundball from Eddie May. His contact info is still as mentioned earlier in this thread.
