Brokennock, thanks that is the type of insect I was thinking about.as a young'un we boys would take a common pin and a piece of light weight mothers sewing thread and tie it to the pin and insert it into the rear end of the bug and let him go and it would fly to the end of the string like a kite and this would rely impress the girls. this is what we did back in the early 50's for fun. and after let the bug go, no harm done.
 
thanks, I thought that they were different insects. though they are similar in looks and summer creatures gone by fall.
