For Sale or Trade. Prefer Trade. Please read this listing carefully. I have a beautiful LEFT HANDED .45 cal fullstock flintlock that I believe was made back in the 1960's. The lock was made by Russ Hamm and sparks great. The 42" barrel is stamped G.R. Douglass .45 cal on the bottom flat. It is also stamped J.M. Chandler which I take to be the builder of the rifle. I can find no information on Mr. Chandler and if you have any I would appreciate you sharing. The barrel is in excellent condition and appears to have a vent liner. The stock is curly maple. LOP 13 1/2". It has a couple of small dents that have been repaired. You have to look closely to see them. It features very well executed line carving. All inletting was very well done. The general motif was oak leaves and acorns in the engraving on the patch box and inlay on the cheek rest. Patch box releases with a button on the top of the buttplate. Patch box has "Nemo Me Impune Lacassit" engraved on the lid which was the motto of the Stuart Clan of Scotland from the 1500's and is the motto of a couple of military units today. It translates to "You will not cut/hit me easily". All furniture is brass.

Some things to consider. The lock is left-handed and made by Russ Hamm. This makes it a fairly rare item and should anything ever break replacement parts will probably be hard to find. Then there are the sights. I suspect this rifle is a copy of an original. Many original rifles had small sights which were called "fine". Aim small, miss small I guess. My eyes are far from what they used to be and I have a devil of a time seeing the sights.

I am hoping to make a trade for a 20 g/.62 cal smoothbore. Preferably a Tulle or fusil de chasse but others will be considered. Nothing from India, please. Sale price would be $1,050 shipped and insured CONUS. Feel free to contact me at [email protected]. I'm attaching photos but they don't do this old rifle justice. WELL, I just spent an hour trying to get this computer to cough up files to attach. It gave me one. I can see the others when not using the "Upload a file" function. I'm going to post this and then see if I can go out and access them some other way. If all else fails email me and I'll send them directly. The rifle is the top one in the attached photo. Really sorry.
Regards,
John
