A filthy little bag of poison who hunkers down on a limb over a trail in the darkened primordial woods just waiting for an unsuspecting hunter to venture under his ambush, whereupon the rascal drops from above to deliver sewing machine precision bites on any exposed flesh, delivering a disabling or fatal dose of concentrated venom from that deadly poisonous plant Juglans Nigra, which has widowed many a bonny and winsome lass!

They never went for my throat. Tree rats up here like to sit above you and rain down there business on you while you are deer hunting.
Had a red one so close to my face this year I bumped him off the tree with the muzzle to shut him up. He was givin' away my position to the other troops.

That's funny. A friend of mine had one of those completely evil pine/red squirrels sitting about 3 to 4 feet away from him one evening while he was bowhunting and it was chattering incessantly for a long time and would not scare off. So, he did the only thing he could do, he drew back a big Zwickey broadhead, released, and cut it in half. That ended that. :D

Yep, when someone has a pointy stick to hand, best not go on and on and on about stuff!

I've tried everything to quiet those little pests and even killing them still leaves their pals all around even more amped up. Out west if you hunt in the heavy lodgepole cover (where the elk live) they are a constant companion.

Ate every one of my filberts, 90% of my walnuts, every prune plum I didn't beat them to and then worked on my apples until the snow got too deep for them. They can be a real pest even when quiet.

hope he was put in the pot after? they are rely good eaten. my mother used to put a rabbit in the middle of a roasting pan with 3 tree rats on either side and roast them. that was a great Sunday supper.
