This is is a very nice reproduction of a British Pattern 1776 Infantry Rifle by Illinois gunmaker Kent Butler. Built from parts from The Rifle Shoppe, it is stocked in English walnut and is trimmed in the proper brass furniture. The 28-1/2" swamped barrel was produced by Colerain and is “radius corner" rifled with a .62 caliber bore. The rifle weighs just a bit over 8 pounds and has a trigger reach of around 13-3/4".

It features a hooked breech with captured keys. The three keys may be drifted to clear the under-lugs, but remain attached to the stock so they will not be lost. Withdraw the ramrod, and lift the barrel, swivel yoke, and ramrod out of the stock as a single unit. Once out of the stock, the barrel can be easily cleaned without getting any residue on the stock. It features a hinged three leaf rear sight and a dovetailed brass front sight.
Three brass ramrod pipes retain the steel ramrod. A ramrod retension spring adds tension to keep the ramrod secure, and is mounted on the exposed side of the ramrod. The ends of the spring are fitted into the forward and middle ramrod pipes. A copper rivet in the forward pipe retains the spring. The forward sling swivel lays against the forward ramrod pipe to prevent the sling from interfering with the ramrod. The ramrod is fitted with a brass tip on the end on the internal end. This brass tip can be unscrewed if you wish to remove the ramrod from the swivel yoke.

The rifle is slightly used and has had less than 50 shots through it. Took a couple of deer. There are a few small dings in the stock that I, with some effort, have been able to capture on a camera and can supply pictures. I am happy to supply any closeup photos you desire. These photos here were taken under two different light conditions. The lock area looks darker in one, but you can see in the others it isn't. Hard to capture it just right.

The rifle will ship in a custom polystyrene container which will suffer practically any desecration with impunity.
$2500 plus shipping.
