This bag came with a trade gun I just picked up, it was more or less just thrown into the deal, I was was actually more interested in the stuff inside the bag and the horns that came with it, any idea what style if any this would fall into or is it just a fantasy piece that doesn’t fit any particular period etc, I thought it was sort of unique because of the oak strips on the inside that shape the bag and hold it open, you can see the tacks on the end of the bag.

I would hesitate to call it a fantasy piece but I would also question its historical accuracy. All that aside it looks to be very well thought out and well made. If I found it on my doorstep I probably would adopt it. :)

The bag came with with what I believe is a Northstar trade gun and I figured it was was from the 70s or early 80s possibly, the woven strap reminds me of the weaving kits my sisters used to have back then sorta.

I would say it’s not a typical style bag, but people made stuff back in the day. And one offs ‘could have been’.
It looks good and will serve a purpose.

I like it. It may not serve for HC purposes, like re-enactments etc., but it’s a hell of a functional bag that’s dang handsome to boot.
It’s definitely a well thought out bag, whoever crafted it was a shooter I’m pretty sure of because everything has a place that’s right there handy, it had a nice little day horn, the relief carved priming horn you see on the strap, nice short starter made out of a nice piece of burl, stag handled patch knife, some hand forged picks, tools etc, just a bunch of useful things in there, I may or may not use it, it’s a little large and colorful compared to what I’m use to carrying but it makes a good conversation piece for sure.
