For this month I'm going back to an old stand by. Take a standard sheet of copy paper and draw two lines diagonally from corner to corner making an X through the middle.
Aiming spots are ok. Score is the total of the measurements of each shot from the center. Low score wins
Fire 5 shots only, misses count!

The shooting distance for this contest is 25 yards.

No do-over’s.

Only registered forum members may participate.

Only traditional, open iron sighted muzzle loading firearms; peeps are allowed under the condition you mark your target so I know you used a peep. (Tracking it)(NO Cannons) . Percussion or flintlock ignition. Cap and Ball revolvers are OK.

Single patched round ball only. No restrictions on caliber. (a patchless ball may be used if so desired)

Shots will be taken off-hand at the stated distance. Standing or seated is allowed, elbows unsupported by anything other than the shooters torso. In the event that a member is not physically able to hold his rifle up unsupported, a "prop-rod" that is supported only by the shooters torso, no part of which prop-rod may touch the ground, may be used to hold up the fore-end of the rifle.

Only original targets will be accepted. No copies, faxes, scan, etc.

Because I have to measure these scanned targets will not be accepted, sorry my overseas shooters.

Mutilated targets, or targets with more than 5 holes will be disqualified.

The center of the shot and the placement on the target will be determined by the judge.

Judges decisions are final.

Each contestant's score will be posted at the end of the contest.

Your member screen name must be written on your targets.

As stated above if you use peep sights that too must be marked on your target. (Pretty Please!)

Mail your target postmarked by November 30th 2019 to:

Had to adjust the windage & elevation of my Lyman GPR today and once done I thought I'd shoot "X Marks the Spot" while at the range. Got it done and will be in the mail tomorrow. (I'm not rushing this, but our range will close on Nov. 16 for deer season.)

I finally got to shoot a match after several months. It will be in the mail tomorrow. The first shot was on the bottom of the paper, but the next four were fairly good. Thanks again for putting on these matches.

I shot my target Sunday and it is in the mail such as it is. It is nothing to worry anyone about for food standing. I did shoot it with the left hand Tingle 45 caliber I recently found at a fun show. Shot it right handed. That didn’t effect the target. My poor skills did.

Man, my spelling on this iPhone is bad. I need to do a better job of proofreading before I punch the send button. It is about like my shooting.

So I need everyone who sent a target to chime in PM me your name, and user name please.

I also want to remind you all to PUT YOUR USER NAME ON YOUR TARGET. In the past, though this is in the rules I've not worried about the occasional target that had no user because it was easy to figure out. However, this time I have one I haven't a clue who's it is. After this month, I'm going to have to be the bad guy and enforce that rule unilaterally.

I want to thank everyone who's sent confirmations of screen name to real name. Unfortunately the target Im worried about hasnt reported in yet so I may have to drop him (or her) from the scorecard. I'll wait till time to score for that though

Terry,

Appreciate the help in our PMs on my trying out this shooting contest for the first time. The weather cooperated today, and I got to shoot at that "X" target...much fun!:) Target will be in the U.S. Mail on Monday with my screen name written on it.

I'll send my real name & screen name in another PM to you.

 Have to apologize. The target in question DOES have a user name on it, I thought it was a location.. Sorry for the ribbing, you have (so far) all had your screen names this shoot!

So now that I've sorted the targets out, here is a list of who's I have received in the order I received them:
Maven, Piney Creek, Smokepole Sam, Kansas Jake, & Russel Shaffer.

Thanks to all who have participated so far, I look forward to getting more targets!

I'd also like to wish our newest shooter, Piney Creek, a hearty welcome to the shooting and to the forum!

Thanks for the welcome. Sorry for the confusion. Years ago I started in cowboy shooting as the "The Piney Creek Kid", it got shortened by range officers just to "Piney" or "Piney Creek". I didn't realize I was setting the stage for confusion.
