Is there any difference, besides price, of Goex, Swiss, Schutzen, etc. in terms of how efficient they are? Thanks

Yes, Swiss is clearly more efficient then the others. GOEX Old einford (SP) is next and both of these have different fouling characteristics then the rest.

I use goex 1F in my 20 pound mortar, as that what i first used, will try some Schutzen, as it is lower cost. I use Schutzen, 1f/ 2f in my cannons, one is a 1.25 in bore 2 are 1.5in bore because of cost(2 to 4 ounces)depending if live fire or blank, ,i can burn up to 3 pounds a day. I have even used pyrodex in my cannons ans can not tell any difference. But like black power best.

Swiss burns a little hotter and I decrease my charge 10-15 percent when shooting it. But I hunt and plink mostly and for the cost Goex is more cost effective, if I was a competitive shooter I would probably use Swiss. As far as fouling I have not noticed a huge difference and my cleanup with both is basically the same.

In the past I've used Elephant, Dupont, Jack's Battle Powder and a couple of others but mostly Goex and JBP. I'm perfectly satisfied with the performance they give and cannot justify paying more for a "premium" powder. OE isn't much more $$ than regular Goex and remains a possibility. Swiss is just too expensive for my taste.

Cost is relative. If you want the best accuracy, use the best powder. Yes, Swiss costs more, but it is "hotter", that is, more energetic per grain. With that in mind, let's examine the economics. A load in my 62 Springfield that used 44.5g 3f Old E, used 46.5g in Goex and 40g in Swiss. Each shot to the same point of aim and somewhat similar groups. Swiss is best, Old E next in a very close second, Goex opens the group by about 1in at 50yd. So when looking at it in terms of $/gr/accuracy, Swiss is a deal cause I'm using more than 10% less than Old E for the same result so cost between the two is a non issue.
