You were quite rude
This is why I no longer post pictures or care to belong to this forum

That was an attempt at humor, which Nyckname recognized with a like. And yes it was a rude form used by mountain men, at least what I've been led to believe. Please don't let that discourage you from being with us. Your matchlock is a form of weapon I have made myself and like. And yours looks really good. Could you tell us the bore, barrel length and charge you use? Sincerely, George.

I was in a bad mood
Should have provided more info on it
It's a 1" bore think it's called a 4 bore
The barrel came from Dominic carpenter out of PA
He is a great cannon builder
Everthing else on the weapon is hand made.
Found a few pics on line and tried to copy it in my own amature way
Make my own match
I'm shooting about 80 grains of ffg should use 1f but don't have any
Loading 6 .60 Cal round ball in it

Do you have any kind of spring on the serpentine or does it swing free? It looks like it would tend to fall away from the pan if there was a fairly long match attached. It would have a wicked recoil if you hand held it. I like it,- good job.

hey stay with us buddy. the gun is killer as far as I am concerned !!please post pictures when you decide to make smoke?

It's alcorn county miss just outside of Corinth
Not bad for an old Yankee from northern NH
There is no spring it's just a screw that holds it
The blast from the rather large vent hole cause the match to deform and needs to be reset
Been trying to figure out how to post a YouTube video of the actual firing
Will post when I figure it out

My match gets hammered too. I think it is just the way the beast works. I just cut it off to put it out while I am reloading. I don't try that trick of holding a burning match while playing with powder. When I get it all together I just relight.

Ive got a similar piece im working on that is a beast. Its more mast/rail/tender designed as its a blunderbuss. The bore is also 1 inch. This one is Spanish
