I'll dig into my old dixie catalogs and see if I can match it up to something, they had decent pics of the kit guns exploded views.

Thank you Sam, I would much appreciate it. I did find that the tang was rather "thin/flimsy," the rest of the pistol is quite heavy.

Probably correct. There were jillions of these coming into the country in the 1970s and 80s. Never will be high quality, but with work a decent looking shooter for mild loads only.

Barrel. 9' & 7/8" A bit of surface rust, no pitting.

From what I see, that pistol is a pistol made by Jukar/Dikar/Ardesa (the new mark of them is now Tradition Firearms) sale under (with ?) the name of "Kentucky Pistol".
Jukar, Dikar and AMR did't made any marks for the arms to destination of the USA and they were mostly working for CVA.
I've a Jukar like that with the serial number but nothing more and it is a "Montain Rifle" of this time.
This "Moutain Rifle" was made for the American market but it never have goes there, we call that kind of arms (for mine) "Falled of the truck"...
Your pistol is exactly like what they did in this time and another maker did something like that: AMR (Antonio Marco Relea) from Spain too but no proof maks and stamps for the USA...

For example:

505 is also a rating for a steel alloy. Maybe the barrel steel?

I purchased one of these as a kit from Dixie back in the late 60's early 70's. It was made in Spain -- nothing to write home about - I gave it to a friend as a wall hanger - never shot it.
