Found this black cheap holster on evil-bay for my flint !ock i am building. Will do till i make a better one.
Got my mock-up for my 45 cal done in poster board. Will commit to leather soon. Got my roll of 7-8 ounce leather waiting. It will be a kinda Mexican loop style holster with 3 buckle straps. Incorporating Rat's leather covering capped nipple for carry. Straight hog leg style on right hip.
For the 50 cal Mountain Pistol i found a flap holster i already had that came with my Patriot 45 i bought years ago. Kinda a one strap shoulder holster. I may modify for cross draw carry. Check out these pics. Last photo shows the style i am going for.

This ought to be an interesting thread. I can possibly pick up a pointer or two for my "hogleg".

Here is the pattern recut and clean and one piece.
IMG_0790.JPG

Here it is laid out on the leather.
IMG_0791.JPG

This is the glue i use to tack the edges together so i can trim with my exo-knife.
IMG_0793.JPG

Here the glue is drying. Next i punch holes and start sewing the edges together.
IMG_0795.JPG

Getting interesting now. The sewing is always the hardest for me.

The wife has a Dr appointment in DFW area today so i get to make another trip to Tandy Leather afterwards. I need some small buckles and a large buckle for belt. Some latigo stitch and some rivets, black or brass, not sure yet. I also have a gunslinger holster i never finished but plan to now. The belt will be tough i m sure. How am i doing guys, any suggestions?

Well here are a few more pics of my holster build for my 45 cal pistol that was also custom built. My hand got tired of punching holes and stamping so i didnt finish the stitching yet. Another day's work.

I am still waiting on the buckles to come in. No i will not line this one. Now the holster for my Ruger Blackhawk will be lined. I will attempt a basket weave on it with a Texas Ranger Star on the breast strap. I will also attempt a shoulder holster for my Uberti '62 Police. It will be lined for sure.

Ok spent 4 days at my deer lease. Looking good this year. Pretty grown up in my area. Means i can get closer because of better cover. Got some pics of my progress so far, including a knife i am working on. The 45 is looking nice. Will post later.

Now bear in mind nothing is stained yet but here you go.

Curious that "fleur-de-lis" concho on the holster, does it have any special meaning to you? I like the Lone Star on the last picture. I have a similar one on the buttstock of my rifle.

DL, looks good. Thanks for the tutorial on holster making. I like your pattern making. I made one. It was the first and only holster I've made. I made it for a Colonial pistol. It's usable but crude, in my opinion. I may give it another try after seeing how you do it. My tablet keeps cutting out, so I'm getting off channel but thanks again for your demonstration.

No that concho means nothing to me. I thought it was kinda Frenchie so i put it on there. It came out a little too showy for me but it gives my 45 a safe place to be. My leather is really not stiff enough. Should have went with the heavier shoulder. It will work for now. Gonna made a cross draw Slim Jim for my 62 PoPo. They'll look better when dyed. Just need a reddish brown dye.

The Fleur de Lis is interesting but this is outstanding! ;-) you’re doing very nice work.

Very nice and tidy work.

I got lucky when I picked up a bunch of holsters at an auction.
Two fit my Tranter very well. Here is the smaller and nicely fitting holster, the other being a normal British flap holster for the .455" Webley.
I sure wish we could find some of the British pistols for a reasonable price...
