Well it's Saturday the 21st I just got home at 3pm from 10 hours at work. So I Might get to hunt Sunday AM But They say this big job will end mid week & they will try to get me NEXT Friday Sat, & Sunday off. If so I'll spend it on the Mesa trying to fill the elk & Bear tag. Wish I could have hunted more, but when you're making $500+ in over time every week, you shut up and keeeeeeeep working till it ends.

The Mesa you speak of, would that be Grand Mesa? I have many connections to the Grand valley in Colorado.

Well I worked 6 days AGAIN! and an early start Monday:( It's 4:45 am and I'm headed up to hunt the AM & then pack out the tree stand. . . . Not really feeling it, everyone at work is bone tired and a bit snippy, we all thought we would get this Saturday off.

:D Mule deer is next month and I put in PTO for that so I have something to look forward to.

Yep it was just a matter of not enough time in the stand to get lucky o_O

Here I am just down from my tree stand (red arrow)on Sunday the 15th, I had just climbed down 9:29 AM

Here is a bear almost in my tracks 4 days later 8:42 AM

That spot seemed to have a bear in day light at least once a week. Just needed the days I hunted to match up with bear days.
But that was unlikely to happen hunting one morning a week
Today the wind was so bad it wasn't even funny, heard two trees fall, I was swaying around so much I feared my stand would bash into the aspen next to the one I climbed. At times I had to hug the tree to stay standing. 30 feet up a swaying tree in a wind storm is a bad place for a fat man.

People don’t realize just how quick a bear is. By what I was able to ascertain from the video, it took 2 seconds for that bear to be on the ground to above the hunter!
I spend more time than that trying to figure out which foot to start climbing with.
Walk

I don't care what I'm hunting, bear puts a paw on the tree I'm in he gets one GET!!! if that doesn't send him on his way, likely I'm bear hunting.

I do wish I had not set my trail cams to only shoot one photo every 30 seconds. Like to have seen if he nibbled on my Tree stand. I have some camo fleece wrapped around places where I might bump with a bow or Gun and someone made small holes in it. There are Raccoon and camp robbers so I can't say as that it was bear. . . . . but

I still have a bear tag in my pocket from being unsuccessful this spring. I'll be watching for one this fall while hunting, it will be open everywhere I hunt. I only enjoy bear meat made into summer sausage myself.
If packing it out I'd be sure to bring a bit of the best fat too, many say rendered bear lard is the best patch lube you'll ever use. Those same people also say that it's best to render it OUTSIDE, that is if you're not a single fellow and aren't itching to become one.
The last and only bear I killed (25 yd bow shot) yielded 2 1/2 gal of bear oil/grease ,the oil as clear as canola oil with NO odor rendering in the kitchen with the wife unknowing in the other room . She still has no idea other than I was told to clean up when done ,and still have 1 1/2 gal 3yrs later
