Have waited months, and my custom made wheellock lock is finally on it's way to me.
Smith also made a spanner to go with it.

Yes, if my health allows. My health kind of went south the last few years and I had to stop building guns and furniture in my shop.
The fine docs at UW have been great, and I may be able to get back to it in moderation. The maker of the lock made it to be an exact copy of an original (and marked it "copy" on the back). I think he did a great job. It's now in Tennessee making it's way to me FedEx. He posted a video on youtube of it functioning under the search title wheellock for William if you want to check it out. He was a good guy to work with.

Here's to your health and seeing that lovely gadget make some smoke! I just saw the video and that is a fine piece of workmanship. I can't fathom the time required to make one.

Well, the lock was delivered on Monday. IT's a real work of art. Every piece made by hand. He included a spanner, two lock bolts, and a thingie with a ferrocerium rod in it for the jaws. I use a ferrocerium rod flattened for jaws, or actual pyrites but the inclusion was a considerate addition. Springs are still pretty stiff, being new. Good springs, just strong. Has a safety as you can see. Also that push button to snap the pan cover forward once powder is in the pan.

No, actually a guy named Andras Konya from Hungary did the lock. He had posted several of his locks he made on this site somewhere in a thread so I contacted him about doing a lock for me. He sent me pics of various examples of original locks and locks he'd done and I picked this one - copied from an existing one. I knew Bolek is a super fine artist, but also know he is booked out quite some years, I think. Took less than a year to get this one, and once he started work on it, took less than three or four months. I don't know how much work he seeks, but he can be contacted at [email protected]. Great guy to work with.
Have to correct myself. It wasn't on this forum he posted some of his work. It was on the Facebook forum matchlocks and wheellocks.

In 1974 the late Rudi Jacobi of Journal-Verlag gave me a copy of their Eine Radschoss Garnitur BAU ANLEITUNG FUR GEWEHR UND PISTOLE.It is 44 pages of detailed drawings and 5 pullouts of how to make a Wheel Lock. Only ever published in German with Metric dimensions it must be as rare as Rocking Horse excreta but worth it's weight in Gold if you want one..Regret much too long to put on the Forum and was Copyright. Journal-Verlag E.Schend GMBH was (or is) printed in Schwascbish Hall..OLD DOG..
