I was looking thru my 1992 Thompson Center Owners Handbook and saw that they dedicated page 39 to page 50 to their T/C Muzzleloading Shotgun.
They say it is a 12 guage and it came in two different models. One with a screw in choke tube and one without a screw in choke. This model that doesn't have a screw in choke tube is a cylinder bore.

Looking at the photo that they show it appears to be a half stock, round barrel shotgun with a single trigger.

The "12 GUAGE TRAINING & CLAY TARGET LOAD" they show is for 70 grains of 2Fg black powder with, "Either 2 T/C 12 guage, 1/2" Fiber Cushion Wads. One wad over the powder and another over the shot as illustrated on page 41. Or, Two 12 guage Natural Wads Over The Powder And One Over The Shot." This load is for, "approx. 1 oz. of shot."

They also list a, "12 GUAGE HUNTING & CLAY TARGET LOAD" with 80 grains of 2Fg black powder with, Either Two T/C 12 guage 1/2" Fiber Cushion Wads. One wad over the powder and another oer the shot as illustraged on page 41. Or, Two 12 Guage Natural Wads Over The Powder And One Over The Shot." (The capitalizations shown are theirs, not mine.)
This load is for 1 1/8 ounces of shot.

I guess the reason I'm posting this is, I have never seen a factory made T/C single barrel 12 guage shotgun. Have you?

I own one... ;)

Well actually I gave it to my son last year as a graduation gift. It's an extra barrel for his .54 caliber Thompson Center New Englander. I put together a package of the used New Englander rifle and the extra barrel, and that was my gift to him.

Took a bit of scrounging, and I ended up buying the NE 12 gauge in a full gun, with a black, synthetic stock <barf> to get the barrel. The rifle is a wooden stock, as God intended. So he ended up with a wood half stocked, New Englander, with an extra lock in addition to the extra barrel.

NOW if I can only get him to stop mucking about with his "black rifle", and get into some Black Powder...,

Zonie, check out a couple of my turkey and squirrel hunting threads over the last several years.. You'll see mine in a few of them. Highly recommended factory made caplock smoothie if that's what someone is searching for. They handle like a dream and point incredibly naturally. Mine has never given me ANY troubles.

I'm thinking one was listed for sale here in our classifieds recently.

Best regards, Skychief.

I built one for a guy once. He had the barrel, tang, lock, ,triggers and stock. I used the brass furniture from my TC Hawken. The gun came out looking nice, but I don't think I'd want to shoot a 12 gauge much with that narrow butt plate. I have no idea where he got all the TC parts.

Yup, one of the most sought after TC's.They usually command top dollar and will continue to into the future.

Zonie, are you allowed to print a picture of the shotgun? If not can you describe it. That is: similar to a New Englander or looks like a Renegade. I didn't know they made a shotgun other than the New Englander. Although I have a 20 gauge octagon to round shotgun barrel with a T/C breech that fits my 54 cal Renegade.
Thanks

I have one-camo stock and screw in choke tubes. Can't remember the model name. Bought it about the time frame mentioned because they were on clearance-about $169 I think. Not very traditional but shoots well. Choke tubes are the same thread as older Winchester shotguns.

The picture in the T/C manual just shows a half stock gun with what looks to be a totally round barrel on it.

SDS', Thanks. I like the price. That's the problem with getting old, you can remember the old prices, lol.
Don’t know how the head chef and housecleaner didn’t toss all the old catalogs and such out. Only a few made it through the many purges. And without those old catalogs doubt many would have such a good memory......

Jamie,That's exactly what I have. Cabela's had them on clearance about 20 years ago. I think they got all the rest of T/C'c inventory as they were not in their catalog the next year. Mine came with a full choke tube and has performed well.

I have one in the gun safe. I believe it is cylinder bore and no screw in choke. Bought it for my oldest son 30 years or so ago but he lost interest in it. It is a New Englander. Used to hunt with it a fair bit, but not so much since I got my Pedersoli SxS guns.
