WANTED Wanted: Flint .54 caliber Ky/Penna style long rifle

I've been in the market for a couple of years for a flintlock .54 caliber Kentucky or Penna. style long rifle. One that is appropriate to the 18th century or early 19th century. Full wooden stock. Not sure what is available but I thought I'd put out a post. Custom made guns OK.

What is your budget? I have a mint 38" barreled 'Boone' rifle by Don Bruton, but at $1,800.

I have a couple of custom.54s and one on the way. We really need a budget. Mine are $2800 to $3000. Also have a couple of .54 lefthanded flinters. All swamped barrels.

I may let go of a Cabin Creek Yorktown @$1599. These are much higher new. Greg

I was just up at Fort Chambers gun shop in Chambersburg, PA recently and they had a pretty good selection, so you may want to call them. I don't think have much of a web site though. They had a nice custom 58 caliber flintlock with curly maple and Siler lock. I held it and thought the tag said $299 and that seemed way cheaper than I expected, so I said I'll take it, only to find it was actually $2995. It may have still been worth that, but not to me.

That looks like just what I'm looking for but I'm not a member of that site so I can"t reply at the moment.

I couldn't have gotten that rifle from the American Longrifle page as I can't pass the captcha letters and numbers. I have trouble reading those and I've never been able to log into their site and join. Oh well .... my loss ......

I have one that I wasn't planning on selling, but I keep thinking about a different style (Buck's County) or a smoothbore, so I'll consider selling if you're interested.

I paid $1500 for it just over a year ago. It shoots very well. I haven't killed a deer with it, but I have shot gophers with it, and it'll murder pop cans with the best of them! I am meticulous about cleaning and there's no rust. It has a swamped C-weight Rice barrel with radius rifling and a Chambers Deluxe siler lock.

He called it a Lancaster style, although I think it could also pass for an 18th C. Virginia style gun. It's definitely appropriate to the 18th C, although the style wouldn't be out of place in the early 19th C.
