Hello, RickKlem, I have hitchhiked across Alabama a few times in my misspent youth, everybody always treated me with respect and I felt right at home. One young man went out of his way near the Tennessee border to put me in a good place- across the border! He said 'I have to go by my folk's house first if that's OK'; sure I said. OMG, he drove into a mountain valley right out of the 1700's, old time log house on one side, mountains closed in, what English people call a 'coombe'. Rip your heart out beautiful, 'Home' doesn't do it justice. I was 18 at the time, hope it's still there, just like I saw it.
