There was a simple homemade loading tool/ stand I saw somewhere... can’t remember where. I think there was even one that used two large washers, a bolt and nut. Slide the bolt and washer through the center of the cylinder and place the second washers on top of the loaded cylinder. Press the whole thing together with the nut. That might not be exactly what I remember, but pretty dang close...

I was watching one of Mike Beliveau's youtube videos on the Paterson and he loaded it using a short started for a rifle. With the short end he started the ball, and then he switched to the longer end and seated the ball with a few light taps from a small mallet. All you would need is a steady table and it looked quite easy. Skip to the 6 minute mark for the loading.

I always loaded my Paterson with the cylinder on the frame using the tool. My Ehler's model loads just fine with the attached ram. A lot better then I thought it would considering it's funky articulated design.

Go back a few months on this forum. In The Shooting Accessories Department there is a thread titled "Any DYI cylinder loaders" or something like that. Page #3, I think. It will be of interest to you. Homemade stuff!
