We're going back to basics again in July, mostly because my internet is out at home so I have to go to the library to do anything I can't do on my smartphone, (Like post longer thread topics such as a contest rules post)

Your target will be a plain piece of paper with lines drawn diagonally corner to corner making an X.

Scoring will be done by measuring the distance of the shot from the center of the X

Lowest total of 5 shots wins.

Rules to follow:

Fire 5 shots only, misses count!

The shooting distance for this contest is 25 yards.

No do-over’s.

Only registered forum members may participate.

Only traditional, open iron sighted muzzle loading firearms; peeps are allowed under the condition you mark your target so I know you used a peep. (Tracking it)(NO Cannons) . Percussion or flintlock ignition. Cap and Ball revolvers are OK.

Single patched round ball only. No restrictions on caliber. (a patchless ball may be used if so desired)

Shots will be taken off-hand at the stated distance. Standing or seated is allowed, elbows unsupported by anything other than the shooters torso. In the event that a member is not physically able to hold his rifle up unsupported, a "prop-rod" that is supported only by the shooters torso, no part of which prop-rod may touch the ground, may be used to hold up the fore-end of the rifle.

Only original targets will be accepted. No copies, faxes, scan, etc.

Mutilated targets, or targets with more than 5 holes will be disqualified.

The center of the shot and the placement on the target will be determined by the judge.

Judges decisions are final.

Each contestant's score will be posted at the end of the contest.

Your member screen name must be written on your targets.

As stated above if you use peep sights that too must be marked on your target. (Pretty Please!)

Sorry to learn of this, Terry. Having recently experienced an unexpected hospitalization, I understand how you must feel, but as a friend of mine used to say, "better out than in." Hope you continue to heal!

I finish working with my sons' .50 cal Traditions Hawkens. I took Lorraine back to the range and she rewarded me big time. For a longer swamped barrel (44",) she's back to balancing beautifully. Especially since I've been working on my shoulder strength rehab. Muscle memory with technique registered well. She barked almost instantly as I touched her trigger before pressuring it back. I actually shot a couple different postal targets and am almost giddy. I'm going to reward her by going back out this weekend with some targets I print from some free target sites. She deserves to play around. I cleaned her very well and placed her in her resting place after kissing her good night. I mailed the target at the PO right after I shot it Wednesday evening. Terry, you should get it by Monday. I do Love BOTH of my Lorraine's.
