Some how from my reading on various Forums, I would not be surprised if someone had not tried nauga hide for patching.
 
I think nauga's hide pretty good. That's why you will almost never see them out in the wilds.
All that store bought naugahyde you see in the stores was taken off pen raised nauga's.
 
I think Nauga's are on the endangered species list. I haven't seen one since the sixties and that was on the Johnny Carson show.
