Managed to get to the range today and among other guns had a chance to excersize one of my Pietta Hickok 1851 Navies. Been awhile since I shot them and had to relearn the sight picture. Distance was 15yds offhand .375RB and 25gr equivalent of BlackMZ. Started left to right. Guess I'm s till more dangerous to someone else than I am to myself.

Re-learn the sight picture to me means you need to shoot more.

Think how great that would look with practice.

Every target would be tight and those groups would be even better than they are. Never be happy with the results it will make you a better shooter.

The spots where both men stood are actually marked off in downtown Springfield, Missouri. So yes, 75 yards. I have access to a 18X24 inch hanging steel plate at my range on private property--thank you NSSA guys! When finishing up a days cap & ball shooting I usually do the "Hickok" shot for fun. Of course, 24 inches is not a heart shot but I normally hit that plate 4 out of 5 shots with a 36 Navy. All good fun.

Looking at range reports for me is always enjoyable to do. I would take your results anytime.

I always shoot offhand like you did. BTW, did you also shoot one-hand only?
