Anybody out there try any of the Hornady One Shot muzzleloader cleaner? I have used my same old mix of Murphy's and Windex for cleaning my muzzleloaders for many years, but on a whim, I picked up a bottle of Hornady's One Shot just to experiment with. It sure seems to do a nice job and has a slight lubrication feel to it. They claim that it has properties to help fight corrosion, as well as cleaning properties. I have tried it on several of my guns so far and it is pretty impressive to me.....just wondering if anyone else has any positive experiences with it.

I have no knowledge of Hornady One Shot cleaner for MUZZLELOADERS. That said I absolutely love the aerosol Hornady One Shot spray cleaner for firearms. Blasts crud out of locks, set triggers (or any other type of action on firearms). It does leave a dry type lubricant film that is pretty slick. I've also noticed that the film repels moisture fairly well. I wouldn't use it in the bore of ANY firearm, but for locks and triggers it's pretty slick pun intended. I buy it by the case.

Edit- I looked to see what the exact name on the cans is, it's called One Shot Cleaner and Lube.

Hornady calls it their One Shot Muzzleloader cleaner and rust preventative. I have never messed with any of it before, but just tried it on a whim...and was pretty impressed.

There is a Hornady One Shot spray case lube. What is that? Is it all the same stuff or totally different yet all called One Shot?
No I don't believe the case lube and the cleaner/lube is even remotely the same. The case lube likely has lanolin in it (most case lubes do to some degree or another).

Nope it's different...it is marketed specifically for muzzleloaders, and comes in a pump type spray bottle. I cleaned up another pistol yesterday with it, and it seems pretty impressive to me. I've used lots of things over the years, but have been with the murphy's/windex mix for a long time now. The Hornady seemed to clean up faster for me and did a super job. Must be someone out there besides me that has tried it..

Don't know if anyone has seen this extensive test of 46 gun lube products that was done a few years ago, but y'all may find it of interest. It doesn't specifically test the Hornady Muzzleloading product, but does include the regular One-Shot, which I've used for my other guns. It was in the top 5 products in several categories.

It's long and scientific, so I'll just post the link:

Very interesting....I seem to remember these tests, but forgot all about them until you reminded me. Quite extensive tests !

That test is for the aerosol cleaner and lube. Not the case lube or the stuff you have found.

I’ve used it for over two years now.

A Friend of mine had some when he came by the house back in 2016.

There’s a post on here somewhere I made about it several months ago...I can never find any old post it seems...

I use it to clean and as a patch lube, it works great for both.

It not the “cure all” of Muzzleloader cleaning but it does a great job.. kinda’ pricey .

What I’ve found is it’s a great patch lube, but I don’t trust it as a rust preventative .

Last hunting season I left my gun loaded for close too a month after a four wheeler accident.

When I shot it and cleaned the bore , there was a ring starting to form down near the breech.
A wound wire brush took care of it , but from now on my hunting patch lube will be olive oil only.

I pre cut my patches and stack them in cap tins.

Each tin hold 30-40 patches compressed down by the lid.

I spray the One Shot inside of the tin and spray 3-4 pumps at different intervals in the stack.

Top off the patches with one last pump and put on the lid.

With the lid closed and stored in my bag they stay damp for months.

They usually don’t last long enough too dry out...lol

It could have just been dried powder I was feeling in the bore, but i still don’t trust it enough too leave my gun loaded long with it as a lube or rust preventative .

As a lube on woods walks it great! No swabbing required in my guns.

Just load and shoot.

Like I said it’s not the “cure all “ cleaner, but it works as good as any I’ve used.
And better than most on heavy fouling .

Just my .02 worth.

I’ve used it in my smoothbore shooting the Skychief Special , replacing the OO soaked wad with one soaked in One Shot.

With good results I might add.
