I am looking for one of these rods to see if it will improve my shooting.

It is/was a spring-loaded rod to ‘sposedly give equal pressure to your bullet-seatin’. Kinda like a torque wrench for yer gun. Never seen one & from what I’ve read, don’t feel like I missed much.

The KaDooty loading rod was made quite a number of years ago and were on the market for several years.

You could probably rig up a Walmart fish scale on you rod and do the same thing. I remember when they were sold. It was probably a solution looking for a problem. If it was very useful, they would still be using it on the bench rest line. Those fellows are all about consistency. Ask them what they do.
You could also go the hardware store and buy a spring for the loading rod. Then calibrate it with a bathroom scale. Same as a Kadooty.

IT WOULD NOT IMPROVE YOUR SHOOTING.
IT WOULDADD A COMPLICATION TO YOUR LOADING PROCESS TO NO PERCEPTIBLE ADVANTAGE.
THE KADOOTY ROD IS A SPRING LOADED DEVICE THAT WILL LET YOU DETERMINE THAT YOU HAVE EXERTED THE SAME PRESSURE ON SEATING YOUR BALL/PATCH COMBINATION ON YOUR POWDER.

IT WEIGHS ABOUT TWO OR THREE POUNDS AND IS A PIA TO WORK WITH. IT IS BRASS AND TENDS TO GET GET DIRTY RATHER EASILY. USING ONE WOULD POSSIBLY APPEAR RIDICULOUS IN THE EYES OF THE BEHOLDER.

SOMEONE SENT ME ONE AND ITS ABILITY TO MAKE SURE I WAS EXERTING THE EXACT SAME PRESSURE WITH EACH LOAD SHOWED NO EFFECT ON ACCURACY. PLUS OR MINUS.
IT DID ADD TO AN ENORMOUS COMPLICATION, AN UNNECESSARY ONE, TO THE LOADING PROCESS.

The 'KaDooty' is simply a slip-hammer; a weight which drops from a known height onto a stop and which 'pounds' the ball and patch in a controlled manner - kind of like bouncing your ramrod off the ball until it rebounds. It also slightly deforms the ball to make a tighter fit in the barrel. As for accuracy, unless you always tend to loosely seat your balls (no pun intended), it would not do much, although the earlier advertising for it made it sound like the end-all-be-all of loading.

YOUR KADOOTY IS A BIT DIFFERENT FROM MY KADOOTY..
EQUALLY USELESS AS BOUNCING YOUR RAM ROD OFF A PROPERLY SEATED BALL.

THERE ARE ALL SORTS OF WONDER DEVICES TO IMPROVE ACCURACY. THE ONLY ONE I HAVE FOUND TO DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE LOADING FOR ACCURACY IS THE OLD FASHIONED MICROMETER.

Using Pyrodex I found seating pressure important so I made a simple tool with a spring in it to seat the ball. I lost the picture when old puter failed. Just a wood with a spring in it to compress even. I never pound a rod to seat. I cringe watching guys slam the rod because impact can ignite BP and smokeless.

I know what you mean. I am they type that will try just about anything to get better groups while at the range shooting from a bench. But, if I am going to be running around in the woods I like to keep it simple and light so this would only be used at the range.

Zorba, the thing is gone, I confused you and someone else and after all the experts sounding off I took the first call for it. Lou

Zorba, stinks when your ‘wanted’ post item gets hijacked. Poor forum etiquette in my opinion for someone to cut in and make an offer before you can respond. Can’t blam Lou. New member and understandable how he got confused.

Without knowing all the details the time stamps on the posts look like he waited 25hrs. before he said he would take it. If someone decided to buy it in that 25hrs., the man with the money in his hand gets first chance. How is that hijacking? Mr. Lou priced it at 8am and Zorba said OK approximately 25hrs. later. How long is the seller obligated to wait for the buyer to make up his mind?

As Clay Smith says on his website "The gun you thought about today and decide to buy tomorrow, someone else thought about
yesterday and bought today."
