Had to move him out of the way while I was blue crabbing on a dock.
Worth it when I saw the size of the crabs.

"we have a tufted titmouse here in Arkansas that is small and friendly with a kind of 'crown' on his head. I don't think his tail is that long, but he's a cutie."

I found two tufted titmice? on my patio. One was dead and the other real lethargic. I brought them to the local health dept. where they determined the birds had died from the West Nile virus. I got real sick about a week later but didn't die .. although I wondered about it at the time.

ACTUALLY...

I visited on Monday, the farm where I hunt. It had a dead, downed tree loaded with the males...no less than a half dozen. I've never seen that many in one spot. We have several species of thistle here..

Longtailed tit.
Do you have these in the states?
About the closest thing we have to a tit is a verdin.

Little bitty bird not much bigger than a humming bird.
We usually get one pair of them that builds a nest in the pepper tree in the back yard.
While they are building the nest (with the entrance on the bottom) they get very defensive. Of course, what could a tiny little bird like that do?
"tit!, tit!, tit!, tit!," over and over while flitting from branch to branch.
