What caliber and and what twist rate is that GM barrel with the false muzzle barrel ???

It's a .40 caliber and all I know right now is it was described as "slow" It should be here in two days (Friday) so I'll get a good look then.

Finally finished my last target rifle.

So, just what are you planning on doing with this rifle? How far are you planning on shooting it? Prone?

As always, your work looks great.

Was not expecting the crescent butt.

Fleener

Fleener, I patterned it after a very seldom heard of gunsmith by the name of Peter Craft (1850's) who made some fancy guns, but not very many. Green Mountain 45-70 barrel with a 1 in 18 inch twist. Prone! Very little. Target shooting - to 800 yards or so. Probably will let my left-handed son have it to display it on his mantle :). Seriously, I will find out how it shoots at long distances before that happens.

George Mitchell passed away last year (shooter with the 100# rifle) so he's out of the mix. I like to use equipment made by shooters who use what they make successfuly. Neil Eddington is my current go to guy. He makes Legacy barrels and shoots them as well, check the record books at Friendship. He's not cheap and the wait my be fairly long, depending on what he is cutting, but it would be worth the time and money. Second choice is Ed Rayl in Gasway, West Virginia. Second only because his wait is even longer than Neil's.
