Hello from York County, PA. I’ve been lurking for about a month now and it’s time to introduce myself. I built my first long gun in 1979 when I was bitten by the flintlock bug and have been building, target shooting and hunting with said guns ever since. When that making a living thing didn’t interfere. Being recently retired I’m looking forward to getting back into it along with all of my other bucket list projects and activities.

I thank you for adding me to the Forum;

Best regards,

Dan

Hi Dan (Old Rust)
I'm kinda' new here too. I'm from Berwick, Pa. Age 70. I registered in '08, but just reopened my account a few hours ago. I'm an accoutrements maker. I'll be (hopefully soon) posting some of my things for sale. I got bit by the BP bug back in the mid '70's after my discharge. I don't shoot anymore due to a stroke. I still LOVE making the accessories though! Take care.
God bless:

Welcome to the Forum,, Dan/OldRust.
And welcome back , Two Feathers.
It's good to have you both here.

I got hooked in '75, the first flintlock season.

Welcome!

York County had a rich tradition and it's own flintlock school. And one that "translates" well to modern tastes.

Thank you all for the warm welcomes. I am thoroughly enjoying this Forum.

Stumpkiller That is an exceptional example of true workmanship. Over the years I have built several long guns in the York style of George Eister but I’ve never achieved anything close to this one. I believe I barely scratch the amateur level.

That is definitely a York/Lancaster School stock profile. The patchbox, 4 piece, elaborate carvings with piercings I can not place. Is it Martin Shell ?

Thanks

Hello to you PA guys. I am down in Harford County, MD and shoot at Delta Peachboom and Southern Lancaster Clubs.

Welcome to the forum, OldRust. Nice to have ya here. I got into ML back in the early 90's when I started UnCivil War (the war of northern aggression) re-enacting. Got too old for that and sold my Enfield musket and bought a .50 cal. flintlock. Had been wanting to get into the mountain man rendezvous re-enacting for a while. Happy shooting!
