After reading the link that Tom A Hawk gave along with the information given in Flayderman's Guide, this pistol becomes more and more interesting.

Everything seems to say these had brass frames or nickle coated brass frames and this pistol seems to have a steel frame?
Checking it with a magnet might prove to indicate this has a steel frame.
Remove the barrel and check the frame in the threaded area to keep the magnet away from any steel parts like the mainspring.
A good magnet will work best but even a magnetic kitchen refrigerator door stick on could work.

Also, both sources indicate that only short barreled pistols were made. The author of the article in the link even made a joke about the mythical factory 10 inch HERO.

It's quite possible someone made the long barrel long after the pistol was made but if the gun has a steel frame, it might well be the "ultimate Manhattan collectible" the author joked about.

I just check it is not steel will not magnetize. Barrel is only 7 inches in length but in total it is 10 inches.not sure my friend just sent it to me it came from his dads stuff. My friend is 72 years young his dad has been gone for some time now .so it has special interest to me to be given this opportunity to carry-on the history of this little gun. My friend said he didn’t even know anything about it he just found it a week ago.
