I bought this thing at a gun show years ago with the intention of installing a breech plug and playing around with it. But it seems I’ll never get around to doing anything with it.

I think it was Snyder breech loader that had the breech cut off. It’s a smooth bore around .72 - .75 diameter. The lock is strong and works fine with half cock and full cock.

You can have this beauty for $120 shipped to your door. Heck, the lock and trigger guard are worth at least that much.

How long is the barrel from the hex forward? what size is the hex OD?

There’s no octagon section Stude. These additional pictures may help. Total barrel length is 26”. The last picture shows the barrel in the stock with no gap in the barrel/stock breech faces.
