Anyone own a full stock hawkins and would like to share so pics of them. thinking about building one. thats why i asked

I've built three of them. Top is a .58, my elk rifle of years ago. Second a .54 engraved. Third a .40 St Louis "squirrel rifle". Last a custom .50 for a young woman.

Next picture, the same except a Don Stith .54 I built for a guy in the Aleutian Islands.

Then my .58 buttstock and cap box.

Me with the .58 after a fall on rocks while elk hunting.

I can't locate the photo of my first .58 fullstock flintlock Hawken, but will try later.

Nice work on all Herb. How did the repair come out on the broken toe?
I fitted two, 2" long screws in the wood under the toeplate and glued the piece on, then put the toeplate back. Now I reinforce the toe with long screws under the toeplate of each Hawken I build, to reinforce the toe. The Bridger Hawken has the toeplate riveted to the buttplate with a 1/16" rod. When the Green River Rifle Works had the rifle , they took the buttplate and toeplate off, still riveted together.

Well then, to correct my misspelling, it's not a Hawken I built. I should have spelled it "Plains rifle".
There you go !! :D

Seriously, I know it will come as a shock to some of the Hawken lovers but there were a number of gun makers in St Louis at the time, all making Plains rifles and all of them were good ones. (Check out Hanson's book, "THE PLAINS RIFLE". )
