I made a wedge for an old Ardessa I bought cheap that was missing the wedge. I used soft steel/iron. I cut out a piece about the length and width of the wedge. The metal was slightly thicker than the wedge. I cold hammered an end on it and filed to fit the gun. I used cold blue to match the metal on the gun, but one could also brown it. To cold hammer the end/cap, I locked it in a heavy vise and used a ball peen hammer to hammer down the end of the wedge. It worked pretty well and wasn't hard to do.
