Watched demo of matchlock shooting at Historic Henricus, Va and was fascinated by it. Believe he called it a Caliver and he let us hold it. I found this stock design very comfortable to hold and point. Also this same design at Jamestown Settlement but was not able to find maker from them. After doing some research on the internet thought it might have been made by John Buck. I have recently gone from percussion cap to flintlock shooting and now matchlocks look like a lot of fun. What would be approximate cost of a similar match lock and who builds them? Thanks for any input.

Don't know who builds matchlocks, but they seem to be fairly simple in design. The gun in the picture looks like a type used by English colonists in Virginia around 1610. I have watched the Henricus interpreter on you tube demonstrate a 1611 matchlock musket. John Pagano performs a detailed manual of arms an describes his weapon and accessories. His matchlock is of the 'caliver' make, a lighter gun and I believe a good one to build. Good luck in your search/build. Dang it, now I'm going to have to build one! George.
