I am looking for a reproduction, early 18th century Spanish musket or escopeta made from a parts set from The Rifle Shoppe. The 1752 or 1789 model is to late for my purposes. Also I would be willing to consider purchasing one of their Spanish fowlers.

Thanks!

Would still be interested in buying one of these.
I have a Spanish Fowler which has a Rifle Shoppe patilla lock which is for sale. I specialize in these types of firearms. This has a Catalan style stock, 62 cal, 44 inch barrel. Some engraving with an African Mahogany stock. Very light and handy and those locks spark like a Cessna hitting a high tension line.

I'd be curious to see a photo of the early 18th Century Spanish Musket. TRS doesn't have a photo on its page to indicate what the Early Spanish Musket (641) looks like. i assume not French influenced style yet.

Dale Nincehelser (Deep Creek Dale above) is about the only one I know of building these type of rifles right now. His computer is down, but I did tell him someone here had an interest. I will PM you his contact info.

Thanks. I picked up some used TRS parts kit for what I think is an early miquelet musket. Not exactly sure what I have here - iron mounted , just the single sling barrel band, large Miquelet lock.

I think I have my computer back up and running again. Sorry to take so long to get back with you. Bruce is correct, I do specialize in Spanish miquelet/padilla lock firearms. I love them. They work incredibly well, to be honest, I think better than regular flintlocks. I have some pictures on my computer but I need to reduce the size to send them, I have a friend who is a professional photographer and his pictures are superb but the file size is
too large to send

Thanks for responding. I picked up the book Spanish Military Weapons in Colonial America 1700-1821 by Brinckerhoff & Chamberlain, but there is nothing in that book this early. Just trying to figure out what the TRS kit Early Spanish Musket (641) is based on. There must be an original somewhere.

Wooops. Didn't work. Go to YouTube and type in miquelet musket. There is a guy shooting a Spanish one that I think is the style you are looking for. And looks like it's from TRS.

Yes, that's the one I was thinking about. Trying to locate one of those finished will be like the proverbial needle in the haystack. About the only way would be to order the complete kit and build or have it built.

I build these all the time. I can tell you, if you have not done a lot of machining, and heat treating it will be hard to build. They are great locks though when finished., The lock # 641 is BIG! I have several of them in stock. The main spring looks like it could work on a 2 1/2 ton truck. If you are interested in having one built, let me know, I will be happy t work with you.

I have an order in for a 1752 musket in Steel trimmings. I always order the parts set with the completed lock, Jess does his locks really well. The 1752 was flintlock, style very similar to the 1754 Charleville But with a 44 1/2 inch barrel. The 1752 musket also comes in Brass which was more common for this pattern.

I have one of those 1752 muskets in brass that I got in trade for nothing. You are right, it has the regular flintlock, although the Spanish quickly went back to the miquelet style of lock as a regular flintlock was considered too fragile for frontier service. I don't know who put this lock together but the frizzen spring is WAY to heavy so it won't kick open properly. Thanks for reminding me that I have another project I need to get too! Overall, though, it is a really nice piece, you will be happy with it.

Since buckskinner 35's last responce to this classified ad was on October 9, 2019 and it said, "PM sent" I assume he has found what he was looking for.
That said, I'm closing this "Wanted" advertisement.

Those of you who seem to have turned this ad into a discussion about Spanish guns should start a new post in the "Pre-Flintlock" area of the forum to talk about this type of guns. (IMO, the Miquelet lock pre-dates the flintlock.)
