Stewart, I ran into about the same issues with mine when I built it. Got to be careful with that nose cap and entry thimble. I chucked the aluminum ramrod and bought a TOW hickory rod. It was a fun build and enjoyed putting it together but probably wouldn't do another. Actually the one I built is no longer with me.....a friend made an offer I couldn't turn down. I have about 18 months worth of work on colonial rifles so I wouldn't have time to do another anyways.

If you never built one try it....they can teach you a thing or two about kit building.
 
Hanshi, I agree love mine accurate. Wife gave it to me a for Christmas present, so well cherished.First head shot squirrel on 1st time hunting with it. Zonie mine does have the small chamber, use 22 jag and brush to clean.Peashooterjoe
