I want to ask my hunting pards here for some good thoughts I underwent an emergency retina surgery yesterday. Dealing with having to keep my nose pointed to the ground due to the gas bubble placed in the eye. It was pretty bad they claimed. 75% detached and torn as well.

And it had to be my shooting eye to boot. The rabbits will be safe the rest of this month. Hope to be cleared to go after a turkey in April.

Thanks for any good thoughts/mono, etc.

Best regards Ole one eye, Skychief

PS, any hints about how to sleep with your face planted straight down would be most welcomed.

How about a horse shoe shaped travel pillow the kind that will fit around your neck. Except use it as a pillow of sorts. If one is not deep enough use 2 duct tape them together that should allow plenty of height so your face will clear the mattress.

Sorry to hear about your retina problem. Do what they say even if it's difficult. "All things will pass."

I went to the retina specialist today. My vitreous humor is shrinking up and pulling on my retina giving me a black spot in the center of my shootin' eye .. tough to sight properly. He said it was too risky to do surgery. He suggested that I learn to shoot left-handed. Trouble is my thumb is drawing together and locking up due to something else. Oh well ...

Sorry to hear of your troubles SkyChief. I'll be praying for your thorough recovery. Hopefully in time for turkey season. If not, well, there's always fall. Better to heal correctly and have your eyesight later than push it too soon and have to switch to Pirates of the Caribbean type shooting.

I sure appreciate all the good wishes and suggestions friends. I have a friend dropping in with some of the horseshoe shaped pillows today. He's been known to use a little tequila, so we will see..:D

Thanks a lot all. I'd like to write more but it's a struggle right now. Hoping for the best. Patience.

All the best, Skychief.
