There is a group of people who are looking to be offended. It's a product of elevating victimhood to a desired status. I didn't think Crank's post to be especially offensive in a site that refers to modern guns as "suppository" guns. We've set ourselves apart as BP guys.

A video on YouTube shows Spam being made. Two ingredients, pork shoulder and spices. Vegans and other morons try to convince it contains lips, snouts and ass holes. What gripes me is it should sell for $1.00.

Well... I guess I was unclear...I did mean morons try to convince us it contains lips, snouts, ears, etc.
But I did not mean All Vegetarians. Sorry about that.
I should have worded it better. Yes I have relatives and friends who are vegan. They may tease, we discuss diet, but they aren't arrogant with preaching, like many on other forums I read.

Does anyone else find it ironic that someone would need to explain to adults why making public blanket derogatory statements about a group of people is wrong....?
Does anyone find it ironic that one would be encouraging censorship, even self censorship, over hurt feelings in a country that once taught children to say ‘sticks and stones may break my bones but names can never hurt me’.

I tried vegetables once but they backed up on me. I have been an obligate carnivore since, but I have nothing against folks who have issues with meat backing up on them. Is this a great country or what!

I may be stretching here, but I presume your parents taught you manners and how a person behaves while in public (yes, this forum is public). This has nothing to do with censorship and everything to do with behaving in a civil manner. Even the suggestion of censorship is a strawman argument...

I know it's a secret, but I will share anyways - meat is fundamentally made from vegetables....

That's funny. After 1 year and 8 months, 25 post, you thought of that question.
Considering the post to which I was responding was made at 0634 on Saturday, February 9, 2019 - not certain what your point might be...

Well, this thread; "Thoughts on SPAM meat" has been going on since May, 2017 and the title in itself is dietary choice or belief. I just thought it was funny as in, lmfao funny that it has gone on this long and nobody ask what, if anything it had to do with muzzleloading until now. Funny that's all. Heck, that could have been asked on the first reply to the first post.

I now understand your perspective. Thanks for the clarification...:thumb:

Considering some of the things I've see others eat at Rendezvous, this didn't even register. I make an effort to cook period foods using rations available at the time. I guess SPAM wouldn't be too different (other than the container and if you squint and look out of the corner of your eye) than some of the meat products of the period...

A friend calls Spam "lipsysnouts," but in fact it is mostly pork shoulder.
We used to take slices of Spam, wrap with Velveeta then coat the whole mess with Bisquick dough and fry over a fire in Boy Scouts. Eating these insufficiently cooked amalgamations, liberally sprinkled with ash and fir needles, was considered to be living in tall cotton.

:youcrazy:
Yep fond memories indeed. My dad would starve rather than eat spam. He ate so much of it in the army WWII, he never wanted to see it again. LOL

Wow! The topic was SPAM. Now we’re into hurt feelings. I suppose no one watches the news, because someone’s feelings would certainly be hurt. What ever happened to “stick and stones may break my bones but names will never hurt me”? We have raised a generation that seems to be offended by every little thing, and need safe spaces to run to to avoid having their feeling hurt. They need counseling because their candidate didn’t get elected President. They talk about micro-aggressions, subtle little things that offend. People lose their jobs because of stupid things they did when they were teens or young adults decades ago.
Free speech is dead, all because we might hurt someone’s feelings or offend someone. The founders would be rolling around in their graves! I’m glad I’m old, cause this PC manure is not for me.

Now about SPAM, I love it fried with eggs and Tabasco! Also like what the Hawaiians have done with the musubi!
