Crown Royal's "Bourbon Mash" is a good choice for the folks that have a yearning for bourbon. I've always been a crown-fan. Their "Limited Edition" is excellent but can only be found north of border. If ya want to try "Gibson's Rare" I'm sure you will comment positively later in this string.

Thought I would check in with the rest of you whiskey snobs out there. #1 prodigal son gave me a 5th of 'Minor Case' Straight rye whiskey (cherry cask finished) by Limestone Branch Distillers, Lebanon, Kentucky for my January B'Day. Never seen or heard of it before, but it is really good! #2 prodigal son gave me a 5th of ' Black Forest Kammer Kirschwasser', a 90 proof cherry brandy - takes 22# of Bavarian wild cherries to make a 5th. It is supposed to be drank as an after dinner 'digestive' cold & straight up. I keep it on a shelf in the garage as it has been plenty cold here in Iowa...right next to the de-icer windshield wiper fluid. It is an acquired experience, but quite enjoyable. #3 prodigal son sent a card and said he would be up to visit soon and help me drink all of the above. Life is good!

I recently bought a bottle of Gibson Rare as a man shed present for a friend. Very nice surprise, it is 15 or 18 year old (I cant remember) and at a very good price point. Great taste. I need to get a bottle for myself.

McClelland single malts are competitive with most premium blends when it comes to price point, and taste a boatload better, in by opinion. They have several offerings - I like the Speyside and the Ilse of Jura (spellings may be off, here). If through circumstance I am forced to drink bourbon, i'll go with Makers Mark … if you ever get to visit the distillery, i'ts worth a look.

I'll give a big "thumbs up" for George Dickel #12; It is quite good. And Fleener, it's nice to know someone else relishes WT rye as much as I do.

An old standby favorite Rye is Old Overholt, and still reasonably priced!

I have never been a "whisk(e)y" fan; a very nice Sake is my drink. My daughter bought me a bottle of Santori Toki for the New Year and I have been nipping on it for several weeks and I appreciate the "scent" more than the flavor. Straight up is how I sip it. It is "interesting".
